Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation - Surgery
Surgical intervention may be required to treat both acute and chronic conditions affecting musculoskeletal health. Acute MSI sometimes require surgical intervention, for example cruciate ligament damage to a knee or a tear in the Achilles tendon in the ankle may require manual repair. Fractures and other traumatic injuries are also sometimes repaired through surgery. Work related upper limb disorders (WRULD) can occur in joints such as elbows and shoulders and damage to nerves in hands can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome which may require surgery in more severe cases. Lower limb disorders or LLD may affect hips, knees, ankles and feet and in some cases also require surgery to correct and repair damage.
